Mel O’Keefe, a member of our stable, finished in 5th place in the Equimillion. This event garnered a lot of attention from horse racing enthusiasts because it featured former racehorses that had achieved G1 victories. Mel participated with a former racehorse named Blockaded. Despite the fierce competition in this high-stakes competition, we are delighted that Mel gave it a good shot and got a great result.
“I am very happy to have had the opportunity to challenge Equimillion with my horse Blockaded. I am grateful to Japanoz Stable, James & Son, and Mifeed for sponsoring me, and it has been a source of motivation for me,” Mel said.
They even ran into the former staff that used to care Blockaded during their racing days were also pleased to have a reunion after a longtime.
Some of the retired horses from my stable have been adopted for riding, and I frequently receive messages and photos from their current owners. It appears that Equimillion will be held again next year, and I look forward to seeing some of the horses that were once in my stable competing, which adds to the excitement. I am thankful that the horse racing community is paying attention to the second career of retired horses.
