God Gumption (3yo gelding by Tajee) scored a strong win in the Benchmark 60 over 1200m at Kilcoy on July 6, collecting the $20,000 prize money

After missing the jump and settling at the rear, he crept through the field along the rails, steadily improving his position. Turning for home, he found a clear run, dashed through a gap, and surged to the front, going on to win decisively.

This was his third career win, following his last victory in April. As a QUITS-eligible runner, he also picked up a bonus in addition to the prize money.

Jockey Tomizawa commented:

“It was a nice effort. The track was a bit soft, so he stumbled out of the gates, but I was able to get him onto the rail early and let him relax there. Around the 600m I was able to slot in just behind the leader, and at the turn, I peeled off with the second horse in my sights. He let down really well in the straight.

Full credit to Daiki – he had him spot on for today. Thanks to the connections for the ride.”
