Risk for Reward (a 4-year-old gelding by All Too Hard) broke his maiden on June 12 in a 1400m turf race at Ballina Racecourse, which carried total prize money of AUD 27,000.

He was urged forward early, settled just behind the leaders on the rail, and showed grit in the straight, forcing his way between horses to hit the front and cross the line first.

Nori commented, “The track was heavy today, so I didn’t want to swing too wide. I was able to slot in right behind the leader, and in the straight, I waited for the gap to open. Once the opening appeared between the front two runners, he responded well and finished strongly.”

Daiki said, “I was fully prepared to see him end up as the bridesmaid again at the top of the straight, but he dug deep and got the job done. It’s a well-deserved win for all of us!I believe he’ll now kick on with his job and progress through the grades, especially as we step him up in distance. He definitely appreciates having gaps between runs, particularly after putting in a big effort on a Heavy 10 track. I’ll see how he pulls up and then plan his next race—possibly a mile in a few weeks.”
