In mid-May, Bahamut (gelding, 7yo, by Real Impact), who had been a valued member of the Japanoz stable, sadly passed away at a young age.

He was born at the prestigious Arrowfield Stud and joined our stable as a yearling. Bahamut was the first foal by a Japanese shuttle stallion for whom we conducted a shared ownership syndicate—marking a new chapter for our team with high hopes for his future.

During his racing career, he recorded five wins, including victory in the metropolitan area. He ran a gallant second under James McDonald in Sydney and also took on the challenge of the Group 2 Rough Habit Plate. Alongside these notable achievements, he left us with many fond memories.

After retirement, Bahamut began a new life at the farm of Mel, one of his syndicate owners and the stable’s accountant. He was retrained as a dressage horse and was preparing to compete in Equimillion, Australia’s premier event for retired racehorses in the equestrian disciplines.

His sudden passing leaves us with great sorrow, but we will continue to carry his memory in our hearts as we move forward with the horses in our care at Japanoz.
