Bright the Sun (3yo filly by Star Witness) scored her second career win in a Benchmark 58 race over 2227m at the Gold Coast on July 12, collecting AU$27,000 in total prizemoney. After settling at the rear of the field, she conserved her energy before launching a powerful late run along the inside rail to finish over the top of her rivals.
Nori said:
“It was a really nice win. She’s been learning to settle and finish off in her last couple of starts, and today she relaxed beautifully at the back. She let down strongly and I think she’ll continue to improve over longer trips.”
Daiki commented:
“She showed a terrific turn of foot. The inside part of the track was chopped up today, and while most others avoided it, Nori saw the gap and took the shortest way home. She was originally aimed at the Queensland Oaks, so we’ve always believed in her ability. It’s great to see her show that potential today.”
