The Inglis Ready2Race Sale in Sydney saw a significant presence from Hong Kong buyers, with 31 horses purchased, accounting for 33.6% of total sales. The closure of racing in Macau and Singapore has no doubt contributed to this shift. Buyers also attended from across Australia, as well as Malaysia and China, giving the sale an international flair.
One of the standout moments was the sale of a Written Tycoon filly for $1 million, setting the highest price of the auction.
Japanoz Stable supported a Japanese owner in purchasing a gelding by Frosted. The horse flew under the radar of overseas buyers, allowing it to be picked up at a reasonable price.
Daiki commented, “At this sale, we saw stallions popular in Hong Kong, such as Toronado, Deep Field, Exceed and Excel, and Written Tycoon, fetching high prices. Looking ahead, if we’re considering pinhooking, these are the types of sires to keep in mind. On the flip side, from a domestic racing perspective, there could be some great value opportunities.
