I apologize for the inconvenience caused by the withdrawal of Saxon Brave from the Australian Derby. The horse arrived at Randwick racecourse from Ballina on Thursday morning. He had only a hand walk in the afternoon of that day, on the next morning, he went out onto the track as usual, had a light canter to loosen up, and seemed in good condition, so we thought everything was on track for the race. However, in the afternoon of the day before the race, we noticed swelling in his leg. Upon calling the veterinarian, I was advised to withdraw him from the race. Fortunately, the swelling was not severe, and it would have normally subsided within a day, but the decision to withdraw from the race was made out of caution. Once he’s back home then he’ll be reassessed and aim for QLD Derby as his next goal.
