Stunning Force has been retired
Sunday July 28th, 2024 General
Stunning Force has been retired. After developing tendonitis following the race in December 2022, we initially decided on his retirement after discussions with his co-owners. However, even after the partnership was dissolved, the owner’s desire to support his potential led us to reconsider a comeback plan. Acknowledging the risk of recurrence, we ensured he had a thorough rest period and provided meticulous leg care in the stable during training. We managed to get him through two barrier trials, with jockey Piesley commenting after the June 18 trial, “He is ready for the race. Everything is set.” Unfortunately, during the final race preparations, he showed signs of lameness. A vet confirmed …

Larissa Lefroy Joins Japanoz Stable
Wednesday July 10th, 2024 General
We are pleased to announce that a new rider, Larissa Lefroy, has joined the team at Japanoz Stable. Larissa, who works as a veterinary nurse, learned about Japanoz Stable when my staff brought the dog to her clinic. Her love for horses and her daily riding quickly adapted her to riding at the racecourse. “Although she had riding experience, it was all self-taught, so she needed to learn the basics. However, she has excellent balance on horseback and a natural talent for riding. We hope she continues to improve her riding with plenty of morning trackwork. She has set a goal to challenge herself as an apprentice jockey, and we …
2 wins to boost Japanoz stable
Monday July 1st, 2024 General
Racing was held at Ballina Racecourse for the first time in three months. Although the weather had been clear for several days leading up to the race, it was announced that the event would be held on a Heavy 8 track condition on the day of the race. “Today’s track was very unusual. Walking along the course, the inside part still felt wet, and it was rare to see jockeys leaving the inside open on the final stretch at Ballina,” reflected Daiki. Five horses from Japanoz Stable entered in the races, with Boy Loves to Run (4-year-old gelding by Wrote) winning the Class 1 race (1310m, $27,000 prize money) and …
Japanoz Stable Moves to a New Location
Friday June 21st, 2024 General
The Japanxpz Stable has relocated to a new facility. The new location is near the previous stable, and we will continue to train our horses at Ballina Racecourse as before. “Some horses experienced a temporary decrease in appetite when they moved to the new environment, but now, after a few days, they have returned to their normal routines and have become accustomed to the new surroundings. While we are still getting used to the new facility, we are very pleased to have moved to such a wonderful stable,” said Daiki. The new stable features more open spaces compared to the previous one, allowing the horses to see the outside environment. …
June issue of the Yushun
Saturday June 15th, 2024 General
In the June issue of the racing magazine “Yushun,” published by the JRA PR Center, the “World Column From Australia” article features the Japanoz stable. It discusses the purchase of True Fairy, a progeny of Real Steel, for A$4000 and their challenge in the ATC Oaks. The article also touches on Saxon Brave, who unfortunately had to withdraw from the ATC Derby due to developing infection in his leg the day before. Daiki commented, “Both horses have Japanese bloodlines, so I am very pleased that they are being featured in my country as well.”
Vermeer Secures First Victory
Monday June 10th, 2024 General
Vermeer (Gelding, 3 years old, by Zoustar) claimed his maiden victory in a 2210m race at Ipswich Racecourse. From the start, Vermeer took the lead and set his own pace throughout the race. As he entered the final corner, he began to strech, and in the home straight, he pulled away from the trailing horses to finish first. This marked Vermeer’s first win in his eighth race. Originally, he was bought for $900,000 as a yearling and debuted at Waller’s stable in Sydney, where he finished eighth in his first race. Subsequently, he was put up for an online auction, where he was purchased by his current owner’s group. His …
Weanling and Broodmare sales at Magic Millions
Thursday June 6th, 2024 General
I attended the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale and National Broodmare Sale held on the Gold Coast. One of the highlights of these sales was the progeny of Australia’s leading sire, I Am Invincible. His offspring fetched the highest prices in both the weanling and broodmare categories, making both sections highly lively and competitive. This was my first time participating in a broodmare sale. Here, a diverse range of horses were traded, including active racehorses, horses yet to race, and those still in training. As Australia is about to enter the breeding season, purchases were made not only for breeding purposes but also with the intention of continuing racing before …
Double for Japanoz stable
Friday May 17th, 2024 General
On May 16, the Grafton races were held, with numerous horses from the Japanoz stable participating in six races and two trials. Among them, Into the Zone and Vermeer achieved remarkable victories. Due to recent adverse weather conditions, race meetings in this region had been repeatedly canceled, resulting in a high number of entries for the day, with nine races scheduled. Fortunately, the event was held successfully. Even at the local Ballina racecourse, the rain had made it challenging to conduct proper training, making it difficult to maintain the horses’ condition. Despite these challenges, the dedicated efforts of the staff and the support from the racecourse community made these victories possible. …
Wet in May
Tuesday May 14th, 2024 General
The Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, where the Ballina Racecourse is located, usually experiences a lot of rain during the autumn months of March to April. However, this year, the rain has continued unabated into May, significantly affecting horse racing events. Racing has been canceled due to the condition of the track, and there are restrictions on galloping on the grass tracks, while the sand tracks are also waterlogged, posing challenges for training. Trainers in the area are all facing similar conditions and are struggling with the situation. However, at Japanoz Stables, we are adapting by racing at venues such as Ipswich, Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast racecourses …
